TUPAY
Tupay (Quechua for "encounter") is a personal series documenting four days I spent in Cusco, Peru, getting to know my father after a lifetime of absence. After years of moving from resentment to forgiveness, I traveled to stay in his home with the intention of finally meeting him as he is. Along the way, El Poderoso (his trusty old VW van) carried us through the Sacred Valley, dragonflies appeared like quiet confirmations from the universe, and I found the courage to touch his weathered hands at the Salt Mines of Maras and his face on the morning I left. Each photograph is a chapter in an encounter I never thought I'd have. Tupay is for anyone walking their own healing path: a reminder that healing isn't a destination but a lifelong unfolding, and that some of the most powerful repairs happen quietly, in the presence of someone you once thought you'd lost.
