The week they asked turned out to be the last week the three of us would share a city. My mother was leaving to rebuild her house in Peru. My daughter Luna was leaving for college abroad. I was about to become what I had quietly always been: a nomad artist with no fixed address. So I set up the camera and asked the women in my family to stand in front of it one more time before the leap. These photographs are three generations who share a single bond, at the threshold of separation. We didn't yet know what each of us was becoming. We only knew we had to jump to find out.
